UW-Superior’s English major equips students to make effective use of the written word. You will learn how to think, read, write, listen and speak more effectively – all skills that are needed in a variety of roles in the workplace. Through the study of nonfiction and fiction literature, poetry, drama, novels and short stories, you will develop an understanding of American, British and world literary movements as you evaluate, critique and discuss them. Students who major in English at UW-Superior gain the skills to think critically, engage in evidence-based problem solving, and express themselves in multiple forms.

Program Description

Through a major or minor in English or English Education at UW-Superior, you will be able to:

  • Thoughtfully analyze and interpret literary texts
  • Clearly express critical interpretations of literature
  • Comprehend both major and minor texts and traditions of language and literatures
