Who is this for?
Teachers who have a Bachelor’s Degree in an Education field interested in teaching reading for more than one class per day, to teach in a Title 1 reading program, or to teach in a reading recovery program (if not part of a self-contained classroom) OR interested in administrative roles.

Participants will earn:

  • Reading Teacher Certificate for WI DPI’s Reading Teacher (DPI 1316) License
  • Masters of Science in Education (MSED), and
  • Reading Specialist Certificate for WI DPI’s Administrative Reading Specialist (DPI 5017)

Career Opportunities

A Reading Teacher license is required to teach reading for more than one class per day, to teach in a Title 1 reading program, or to teach in a reading recovery program (if not part of a self-contained classroom).

Reading Specialist (17/5017)
A Reading Specialist license is a license in the administrative category. A Reading Specialist license is required for someone who directs reading programs or works with reading teachers, classroom teachers, administrators, and others as a resource teacher in reading.
