Bachelor of Arts in English

A degree in English develops the essential communication skills necessary for any career – persuasive writing, analytical reasoning, cultural awareness and creative expression.

In the open focus track within the English major, you will take courses spanning literature, creative writing, professional writing, media studies, digital theory and artistic criticism. You will learn how to communicate with multiple audiences, read and analyze traditional texts and modern media and develop research and critical thinking skills.

Strong communicators are prepared to build a career in any industry from corporate to creative fields. Our alumni work in communication-focused roles such as copywriter, editor, journalist, or grant writer, and they leverage their communication ability into leadership roles in law, human resources, data analysis or business to name a few.
