Master of Science in Education + Reading Specialist Certificate (DPI 5017)

Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.) + Reading Specialist (DPI 5017) program at UWL offers a comprehensive, fully online pathway for educators to deepen literacy expertise and earn advanced credentials. This program prepares candidates for  the Reading Specialist licenses while completing a master’s degree grounded in research-based literacy instruction, leadership, and assessment.

Designed for working professionals, the curriculum supports flexible learning across multiple terms, helping teachers balance career and academic goals. Graduates are equipped to lead literacy initiatives, support diverse learners, and serve as specialists and instructional leaders in schools.

This program is designed for individuals who hold a Reading Teacher (1316) license and would like to add a Master’s degree and Reading Specialist (5017).

Participants will earn:

• Masters of Science in Education
• Reading Speicalist Certificate for (WI DPI 5017)

Reading Specialist (17/5017)
A Reading Specialist license is a license in the administrative category. A Reading Specialist license is required for someone who directs reading programs or works with reading teachers, classroom teachers, administrators, and others as a resource teacher in reading.
